Stayed there for 3 nights. we didnt get a package that includes airport transfer, so we requested for 2-ways transfer (the Toyota Kijang was huge, kept very clean and in tip-top condition) for 170,000 rph which is approx. SGD 25 or USD 18. Abt 15 mins from Ngurah Rai airport, the hotel is very conveniently situated just 3 mins away from Kuta beach! all staff were very friendly, gracious & courteous, from the minute we were picked up at the airport, throughout our stay till the second they bid us gdbye when we departed.

Room was quite spacious with 2 queen beds and 2 sets of sofas at diff locations. TV channels & programmes were plentiful, if u choose to laze in bed the whole day. the restaurant has their own ice-cream/dessert/juice bar at the lobby. i really recommend to all the avocado juice. yummmy!! food wise, since we r muslims, we had quite a time finding real halal food apart from fast food joints. however, i have to say this, my friend & i’d rather source for other food outside the hotel. im sure they will improve their food menu & most importantly, the taste. Thumbs-up for the complimentary amigos with their guitars, singing to the diners in the restaurant. Enjoyed it.

If u intend to do some shopping, all u need to do is make a double left turn from the hotel, n u’ll immediately immerse urself into street shopping. u can bargain a great deal, up to 90%! just walk all the way, following the line of shops and without realising it, u r already in Kuta Square and Legian Street. Tonnes of amazing stuff u’ll discover.

If u r a sunny-bunny, walk 3 mins to the beach and soak urself in the sun. It can get really scorching though. There r friendly instructors there who would encourage u to learn and/or do some surfing. The beach is a long stretch from the airport up to seminyak and goes further up. The sea is blue, with quite high waves to an endless horizon. Catch the sunset.

If ur travelling free & easy, the hotel has some tour packages which u can opt to join & also provides shuttle bus to certain areas. Very helpful!

We went for a 1.5hrs full body balinese massage, 30 mins foot reflex & an hr hair creambath at H’Spa. Both therapist were great and very polite. In the morning, u can get to see the staff performing yoga with the customers. The staff were really really cute & adorable when they danced to Jai Ho in the evening! Put a smile to everyone’s faces!

Oh yes, dont worry about getting lost & not able to locate the hotel. U’ll see bright orange banners adorning the front and driveway of the hotel. Easy to spot the bright colour.

Overall, our stay has been a real pleasant one. No complains at all. Thanks, Harris Kuta!
We stayed at Laguna Resort for 5 nights in May and the hotel was just great. The environment is perfect and gives you all the time the feeling of an exotic island. The hotel is situated on a big beach where you can go whenever you want to relax , swim or walk. The hotel has got a swimming pool which surrounds the hotel and therefore is so big that looks like a sea .All the rooms are surrounded by the pool and overlook it as they have balconies on the pool. There are nice gardens with palm trees and waterfalls. The rooms are spacious and nice decorated with a big bathroom. They are quiet and clean and the staff is very kind.If I decide to go back to Bali I would definitely choose Laguna again.

JAKARTA, Aug 26 (Reuters) - A small Indonesian ferry sank off the resort island of Bali on Wednesday, killing nine people while three others are still missing, the official news agency Antara reported.

Antara quoted local police as saying that the ship, carrying 29 people, was probably hit by bad weather, although they did not rule out the possibility the ship was overloaded with cargo.

The ship was travelling from Kelungkung in east Bali to Nusa Penida Island which is located about 26 miles southeast of the island. Antara did not give further details.

Indonesia relies heavily on ferry services to connect the main islands in the archipelago, the world’s largest.

But accidents are common, largely due to years of under-investment in infrastructure and a tendency to overload ferries. (Reporting by Gde Anugrah Arka, editing by Sara Webb and Sanjeev Miglani)

One Class Economy. All seats are at 29 inch and they have a free seating policy, so better board early and take the seats at the emergency exits. These seats are wider but they do not recline. As you board take the one next to the aisle, (no one will purposely squeeze to seat next to the window), when it is ready for take off, lift the armrest and viola! A “business class” seat on a low cost carrier! Another great seat, the row after the emergency exits by the window, great legroom, no seat in front of you just emergency exit. Remember! Never take the last row, I dare say it is even less than 29 inch!

There is a resource available for those who are interested in purchasing inexpensive airline tickets called My Airfare Secrets. Written by an ex-airline travel agent by the name of Tony Morrison it is a detailed guide to the secret world of cheap airfares.

His main selling point is the fact that he was fired after 16 years of service to his employer. Unemployed and looking for work he decided that his 16 years worth of knowledge working behind the scenes for the airlines was worth something. Luckily for travelers everywhere he decided to share his secrets in a downloadable ebook detailing everything he knows about saving money on airline tickets.

To say that this book over delivers on information would be an understatement. With four sections that start with Basic Tricks and works up to Top Secret Tricks the information he gives is first rate. You may already know some of the more basic tips and tricks but the true savings are shared in the last three sections.

Finding inexpensive airline tickets is about knowing how to play the travel game. Once you know how airlines determine their prices and discounts your opportunities for cheap travel will increase significantly. There are many factors that go into ticket pricing and with this insider information you’ll soon be traveling for hundreds of dollars less then the person sitting next to you.

Some of the more basic things you’ll learn are the best times to travel if you want to save money. The day of the week or even hour of the day can have a significant effect on ticket prices. Traveling during off season times can also have an affect on ticket prices. Learning just these simple things can have quite an impact on your ability to obtain cheap airfares to just about anywhere you want to travel.

Timing also plays a big factor in purchasing discounted airfares. If you know when to make your purchase you can save quite a bit of money. The airlines offer literally hundreds of discount promotions everyday, but you need to know when this happens and how to ask for these discounts. You will learn all of these little known tricks from someone who know the airline reservations industry inside and out.

If you routinely travel by air you stand to save quite a bit of money following the methods in this book. If you travel only once or twice a year you can easily save enough money on your first flight to cover your investment in My Airfare Secrets. The information in this ebook is more then worth the bargain price and will help you save money anytime you wish to travel.
Balinese cooking revolves around spices, often partnered by coconut milk, which adds a rich flavor and creamy texture to intriguing dishes of tropical vegetables, poultry, meat and fish. Sugar, fragrant roots and leaves are fondly used and the end result is food that is both subtle and sophisticated. Rice is the basis of any Indonesian meal. A main serving of rice is normally taken first, followed by a small portion of three to four dishes of vegetables or meat, known as lauk. These dishes of lauk are placed in the center of the table for all to share.

A side dish or sambal, made with red-hot chilies ground with dried shrimp paste and other seasonings such as lime juice should be taken with caution. It can be scorching for the inexperienced or chili intolerant person, so do not be too adventurous with your sampling. If indeed you are scorched, do not drink water immediately as it will only worsen the situation; instead settle for bananas, plain boiled rice, bread or cucumber. However, delicious side dishes like tempeh, a protein-charged savory cake made of fermented soybeans, and rempeyek, small crisp cookies made of peanuts, should not be missed.

Five Legs

For simple dining, there are warungs - snack bars and mobile carts that cater mainly to local workers and those who understand that low cost hawker meals are really safe to eat. These three-wheeled carts are often pushed by young boys and are nicknamed kaki lima, which means five legs - the three wheels of the cart and the two legs of the boy!

Adventurous travelers can delight in sampling all these delicacies that can be found within reach. Those who are unsure but are willing to try should go for something simple such as pisang goreng or banana fritters, lumpia, a type of fried spring roll, and bakso, a meatball soup. Lawar, a specialty of Bali, is composed of minced pork, coconut and spices. Other types of lawar that are available include chicken, egg, green bean, and jackfruit. Do take note though, if it is red in color, it is made of fresh raw blood. You should also try a snack called tupat, which is normally not found elsewhere. It is actually steamed rice in coconut-leaf packages that are cubed with tofu, cucumber, spinach and sprouts and mixed with a fiery peanut sauce. Do not miss bubur injin or black rice pudding for breakfast or dessert, it is heavenly! Do ask locals for a price estimation but expect to pay around Rp. 2,000 to Rp. 5,000.

Tropical Fruits

Bali has a extensive range of fruits, some unimaginable and some you wish you had never imagined! One of these is the fabled durian, the King of Fruits, which is a thorny fruit the size of a football. It has an offensive smell to some but are prized by locals. Others that can be savored include mangoes, mangosteens, bananas, jackfruit, rambutans, markisas, pineapples, papayas, longans, melons, oranges, and custard apples, to name a few. Of course, the best fruit would be the salak or the snakeskin fruit. This scaly, brown fruit encloses a crunchy white fruit with a pear-like flavor; Bali is famous for its salak.
